About Wine Appellations, Ltd.

Wine Appellations, Ltd. was founded in 1992, with the idea of presenting and selling quality limited production wines to restaurants & retail stores. As importers and brokers, Wine Appellations, Ltd. represents a selection of the finest limited production wineries from the major appellations of Italy and Israel.

The inspiration for Wine Appellations, Ltd. comes from Managing Partner, A. Lawrence Romano’s knowledge and experience as an importer of European wines. Larry found that the quality wines are dependent on four major factors: soil, climate, grape variety and fallible man. Additionally, he concluded that the great wines of the world come from small vineyards.

Today, all of the wines are personally selected by Nancy, Larry, John and Robert Romano. Our criteria are as follows.

• Annual production is 20,000 cases or less.
• The grape variety is planted in the soil & climate in which it is best suited to grow.
• Grapes are picked by hand, not machine.
• Indigenous fermentation processes are used.
• One wine variety per appellation is represented, which means that the portfolio of wines complement, rather than compete with one another.

As part of our brand development, Wine Appellations, Ltd., is dedicated to the ongoing education of wine. Our representatives are available to conduct wine seminars at restaurants and retail stores to educate staff so that they, in turn, may make appropriate recommendations to their customers. Wine Appellations, Ltd. also frequently holds tastings at various restaurants and retail stores to assist in the promotion and sales of our limited production portfolio. Also available to our clients is a limited production wine list, designed to help the consumer select the wine that best suits his or her preferences by highlighting the grape variety, appellation, annual case production, and the intensity of flavor (body).
